Chinese Faculty Member Wins Shikan's (Poetry Journal) Best Critic of the Year Award

On April 29, 2024, the poetry journal Shikan announced that Professor Ao Wang, Visiting Associate Professor of ASCL, is this year's recipient of the annual Best Poetry Critic Award. Established in 1957, Shikan is widely considered the most prominent literary journal dedicated to Chinese poetry today. Since 2002, the journal has presented its annual awards to leading poets, critics, and translators; since 2016, the awards have been called the Annual Chen Zi'ang Prizes, to commemorate the great Tang Dynasty poet Chen Zi'ang (661-702). The award was given for Professor Wang's article titled "Modern Poets and the Deep Water of History," which was published in Shikan in 2023.
