Chinese Kung Fu and Calligraphy Workshop: Exploring Chinese Cultural Traditions

George Leung '07 & Shucheng Zhang will lead the workshop by providing introductions, demonstrations and hands-on practice, allowing students to experience these two traditional Chinese arts.

George Leung ’07 began studying martial arts at eight years old and has trained in over a dozen fighting systems over the past three decades. His focus for the last twenty years has been on the Chinese internal martial arts of Baguazhang and Taijiquan. George is a lineage disciple of Wu Family Martial Arts under Grandmaster Christopher Lee-Matsuo of Honolulu, Hawaii and currently teaches Baguazhang and neigong in Hanover, NH.

Shucheng Zhang has been interested in calligraphy since college and has been practicing it over the past three decades. He is familiar with and capable of writing various styles of calligraphy, with a particular proficiency in regular script (kǎishū) and clerical script (lìshū). Currently, he teaches in the Dartmouth College Chinese Language Program.
