In honor of International Music Day (October 1st), the University of Illinois Press (@illinoispress) has selected ASCL Professor Levi S. Gibbs's Social Voices: The Cultural Politics of Singers around the Globe as its free e-book for the month of October.

Social Voices explores how professional singers from around the world become topics for conversations regarding a range of cultural politics and was recently used for an ASCL First-Year Seminar "Singers as Social Symbols in Asia and Beyond."
